Do something on the husiness website with the word we invented to bring cinema to vr 📖 The Dictionary Entryci·ne·to·po /ˌsɪnəˈtoʊpoʊ/nounAn immersive, computer-generated digital environment utilizing six degrees of freedom (6DoF), allowing a user to physically navigate, interact with, and alter a real-time rendered cinematic narrative. The artistic medium or industry of creating interactive, spatial VR experiences.Etymology: Blend of French cinéma (motion picture) and Greek topos (place/space). Literally, "motion-space."🗣️ How It Scales (The Vocabulary)Just like cinema, a new medium needs a full family of words to describe the people who make it and how we talk about it:The Experience (Verb): Cinetoping. (e.g., "Instead of watching a movie tonight, I'm going to do some cinetoping.")The Creator: Cinetographer. (The 6DoF equivalent of a cinematographer or director—someone who designs the physical layout, interactive triggers, and spatial storytelling of the world). The Art Form: Cinetography. (The craft of writing and rendering interactive spatial experiences). The Venue: Cinetopo-theater or simply The Topo. (A dedicated warehouse or room-scale tracking space where people go to experience high-end 6DoF setups).🎬 How It Shifts the ParadigmIn a movie, the camera dictates where you look. In a cinetopo, you are the camera.MediumCore MechanicThe Audience's RoleCinema (Movie)Recording movementPassive spectator (You watch the action happen)CinetopoNavigating a generated spaceActive participant (The action happens because you move)Would you like to build out this concept further? We can write a fictional news headline from the future announcing the first major award for a "Cinetopo," or brainstorm some specific 6DoF genre names that could only exist in cinetography
Unblocked as of 2026-09-14: the business website is no longer Squarespace. experiencenet.com now runs hydrawebsite (#679), repo github.com/cederikdotcom/hydrawebsite, pages as plain HTML under web/. Putting cinetopo on the site is now a copy edit plus a tag and deploy, not a Squarespace page build. Deciding WHERE it goes is still a content call: the site is deliberately two paths (buy a Hydra One, or self-host), so cinetopo needs a home that does not blunt that.
